Book of the week 06/13/07 Green Arrow #75
Years ago, when DC first announced that they were reviving Green Arrow for a new book, I was a little hesitant. I've never been a fan of characters coming back from the dead. Usually it's convoluted or poorly handled. Since I trusted Kevin Smith, I picked up Green Arrow #1 and was immediatly on board. Since then, this series has provided the humor and entertainment I expect from a comic book. I've always been a fan of Oliver Queen's dry wit and the fact that he's just a normal guy trying to do good in the world. In issue #75, the final issue of this series, we see the full circle of Oliver's good intentions as he steps down as mayor in his public persona as well as a full knock-down drag-out fight between the Green Arrow "family" and Deathstroke. Deathstroke has become one of my favorite villians in comics and its awesome to see him have a vendetta against someone other than the Titans. I've really enjoyed not only Ollie's adventures in this book but Mia, Conner, and Roy's growth as characters as well and I hope that they recieve the same excellent attention in other books that they have recieved in this title over the years. Winnick and McDaniel have both done a great job on this book. Even though Ollie's and Dinah's story will continue in the Black Canary book, this series will be missed.
Eric
Oliver Queen: That's really incredible. You know you have every newspaper in the country calling this guy the Green Arrow. He's got a real following.
Lois: Yeah, well, so did Charles Manson.
